The incumbent in this position will fulfill the role of an Associate/Principal Associate in the Mine Water Team and will be focused on mining hydrogeology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of key projects to be delivered nationally and internationally including management of critical mining clients
  • Willingness to Travel and support mining clients in Africa
  • Conduct field investigations to collect data on groundwater quantity, quality, and distribution, develop plans and supervise drilling, hydraulic testing and sampling programs, analyze and interpret groundwater data, prepare reports, impact assessments, carry out due diligence and recommendations for groundwater protection and/or mitigation of impacts
  • Provide expertise for strategic mine water management including demonstrated competency in mine dewatering, resource exploration and development, regulatory compliance, groundwater monitoring and development
  • Mentorship, capacity building and project management
  • Carry out quality assurance on hydrogeology and laboratory results.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc (Honours) in hydrogeology with undergraduate major in geology and/or chemistry. Masters' degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years consulting experience in hydrogeology
  • 10 years' previous experience in mining and hydrogeology
  • Valid driver’s license and minimum 2-years driving experience.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and reasoning skills; writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated history of working in the mining industry
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and independently
  • Must be competent in all aspects of mining hydrogeology, groundwater flow, contaminant transport and geologic processes. Competency to include, for example, geophysics, geotechnical and geological logging, in-situ testing & hydraulic testing, data analysis and aquifer characterization, mine dewatering, resource exploration & development, Conceptual Site Models, due diligence, regulatory compliance, groundwater monitoring & development and impact assessments
  • Slope depressurization and dewatering expertise advantageous
