Job Summary: As a Cashier at Dis-Chem, you will be responsible for managing cashier operations, ensuring accurate transactions, and delivering exceptional customer service. You will play a key role in maintaining a professional relationship with customers and adhering to Dis-Chem’s service and security policies. [quads id=4] Essential Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience
  • Computer literate – MS Office
  • Sound numerical skills
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
  • Adhere to customer turnover hourly rate and be aware of current sales and promotions.
  • Ensure that colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk.
  • Implement and manage Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles.
  • Manage cash flow and ensure all transactions are accurate.
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
  • Handle exchanges and returns according to authorization.
  • Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons) and loyalty cards.
  • Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to SOPs.
  • Restrict usage of your code and password to only yourself and change them regularly.
  • Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
  • Keep money safe and secure within the till.
  • Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management.
  • Report suspicious behavior to management.
  • Address queries regarding store merchandise.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.

  • Essential:
    • In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
    • Experience in processing sales, refunds, and payments.
    • Strong command of English (written and oral).
