Key focus of the role: This role uses specialist technical knowledge to assess long-term individual life living benefits across the Old Mutual product range.
This role is for a dynamic individual with a willingness to learn and be part of a specialised claims assessing team.
Role Description & Key Result Areas:
Coaching Provide guidance and mentorship to junior claims assessorsPersonal Effectiveness Accountable for managing own time effectively to meet service delivery needsPrioritise tasks and ensure high-quality outputMakes increased contributions by broadening individual skillsCollaborates effectively with others and can work independentlyAccepts and lives the company valuesRisk Management Good understanding of Disability, Severe Illness, Income benefit claimsUses specialist technical knowledge to evaluate and manage the validity of contracts and; determine and manage the liability of claims.Determines, selects, and accepts risk and/or liability on behalf of the organisation.Evaluate financial and medical evidence against business rules and practices.Exercises discretion in decision-making within standardised practice.Role Requirements Three years of Individual Life Living Benefit Claims Assessing experience is essential.Matric with Biology, Mathematics, or Accounting.Completed financially / medically aligned degree, e.g. Nursing, BCOM, BSC or a three (3) year related diploma is essential.Must have experience in the Financial Service Industry.PC proficiency in MS Office i.e. Word, Excel, etc.Clear understanding of risk assessment and policy validationStrong planning, organizing, and time-management skills.Well-developed independent problem-solving and decision-making skills.Innovative and a team player.Well-developed written & verbal communication skills particularly the ability to have difficult conversations.Must be willing to work shifts and overtime where necessary.Competencies Business AwarenessContinuous RenewalDecision MakingOwnershipTenacityThinking SkillsSkills Education Closing Date
