Financial Manager Business Partner: Retail

PURPOSE

Responsible for the financial health of a division. To provide general financial accounting support, assist with the budgeting and forecasting process, and to conduct financial reporting to support sound financial decision making. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research. Guiding Business Unit Leads and Senior Executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To submit the budget of the relevant business units to relevant management for approval on an annual basis according to the relevant policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • Cost and expense management. Managing costs in the department and analyzing costs/expenses identifying areas where we can improve costs and putting forward cost optimization strategies.
  • To produce and review the monthly management accounts for the business unit which you are supported as requested according to the policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • Perform and provide analysis on the monthly management accountants, including a variance analysis.
  • 360 Practice Exec + Finance Exec Review – Prepare monthly for practice reviews and assist the practice lead where needed.
  • The FM is expected to know the full finance position of the practice, present and future.
  • To compile, submit and present all financial reports as required by relevant manager according to the policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • Provide overall finance support and guidance to the relevant business unit, assisting the business unit to achieve its objectives.
  • Working Capital and Cashflow, assist in approving and releasing Local and international Payments, manage billing to ensure order to cash cycle optimization and Monitor the debt collection and improve debtors days to 65 days.
  • Responsible for the relevant divisions balance sheets according to legislation, policy and procedure as well as internal controls.
  • To monitor and approve the business unit/organization’s reconciliations monthly according to the relevant policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • To prepare the monthly forecast for the relevant business unit.
  • Contribute towards optimizing the financial processes.
  • To liaise with all internal and external stakeholders by complying to legislation, policy and procedure as well as living the values and delivering on the customer experience.
  • To resolve or escalate all customer queries/complaints according to relevant policy and procedure.
  • To comply with the data/information requirements of the auditors within the deadlines provided according to the relevant policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • To approve relevant financial workflows and processes affecting the division according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
  • To implement and update all relevant internal policy, procedures, and controls in line with legislation and policy and procedure.
  • To ensure that all the allocated and contracted development activities (Individual Development Plan) between manager and employee is successfully completed within the policy and procedure framework.
  • To identify, allocate, discuss, and contract developmental activities (employee's Individual Development Plan) to all direct reports in line with policy and procedures.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • SAIPA/SAICA advantageous.
  • 5 min years of relevant accounting and financial management /finance business partnering experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel.
