Specialist: Operational Resilience

As an Operational Resilience Specialist , you will play a critical role in overseeing and improving operational resilience across Capitec. You will ensure that our strategies and processes align with regulatory requirements and best practices, helping us remain robust during disruptions. Key Responsibilities Implement Strategy for Operational Resilience
  • Develop and continuously improve Operational Resilience disciplines across the business.
  • Provide proactive, forward-looking risk perspectives and insights to enhance resilience.
  • Stay updated on advancements in resilience, including technology, best practices, and legal/statutory requirements.
  • Offer specialist knowledge to develop and refine systems and processes for monitoring and enhancing resilience.
  • Ensure compliance with Basel Principles for Operational Resilience, SARB guidance notes, and directives.
  • Align Operational Resilience strategy with broader Operational Risk and Enterprise Risk strategies.
Manage Business Continuity Standards and Coordination
  • Develop and align business continuity plans with strategic priorities and critical functions.
  • Coordinate and conduct ongoing Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), updating information on the BCM Toolkit system.
  • Prioritize business continuity efforts based on the impact identified in BIAs.
  • Facilitate periodic scenario testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and expand resilience scenario testing.
  • Align Incident Response events to enhance overall resilience.
Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Strategy
  • Mature the TPRM framework and strategy for proactive risk management and oversight.
  • Align and coordinate systems, processes, and stakeholders engaging with third parties.
  • Develop a framework for reporting and monitoring third-party risk responses.
  • Provide insights for mitigating and transferring third-party risks at the enterprise level.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant SARB Directives, Guidance Notes, Basel Committee Principles, and other regulatory requirements.
Risk Governance
  • Coordinate Supplier Risk Committee and Business Continuity Management meetings.
  • Review and ensure the adequacy of resilience policies and policy frameworks.
  • Report and escalate material resilience risks to appropriate risk governance meetings (e.g., RISCO).
  • Represent Capitec in relevant industry forums and regulatory engagements.
What You Will Bring
  • Education:
    • A relevant degree in Risk Management & Compliance, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years in resilience, supplier and third-party management, procurement, supply chain management, or risk management.
    • Alternatively, 3+ years of risk management or related experience, preferably in a financial institution or bank.
    • Crisis and incident response management experience.
    • Experience in designing and implementing related systems and operating models is beneficial.
