Position: Spray Painter Company: General Heavy Marine (Pty)Ltd Location: Johannesburg We are looking for a reliable and experienced Spray Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the identification and separation of non-conforming parts or materials and report them to supervisors. The spray painter will also be responsible for spraying machines, products, and work areas with protective paint using a spray gun. Spray painters prepare all surfaces before spraying, select and mix the coating liquids, and expertly spray each layer to ensure an even coating. Duties And Responsibilities • Carrying out inspections on bodywork and frames of machines to assess the extent of damage. • Disassembling and reassembling damaged machines parts and accessories. • Repairing scratches, dents, and other damage to bodywork and replacing any parts that cannot be repaired. • Straightening and aligning frames and unibodies. • Replacing or repairing windows, car interiors, and exterior trim. • Filling and sanding bodywork. • Carrying out painting in booth oven. • Performing final finishing and polishing. • Responsible for preparing parts and assemblies for painting • Mix paint and other materials according to specification or formula • Ensure facility and spray-painting equipment are in good working condition • Utilize spray gun and apply paint in conformance with all specifications • Employ heat or oven paint drying techniques for special purpose finishes • Scrutinize and measure parts to maintain statistical process control charts • Monitor machine gauges and equipment operation to discover defects/deviations from standards, and make necessary adjustments • Utilize solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning sprayers and power equipment • Follow company requirements to select paint, and match colours of paint following specified colour charts • Responsible for material and minor maintenance • Performing final finishing and polishing. • Cleaning up site and other task associated with job. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent. • At least 1-2 years of spray-painting experience, preferably within a business- services environment. • In-depth knowledge of paint mixing and spraying techniques. • Must be experienced in the use of a variety of materials and tools in spray painting. • Ability to follow health and safety regulations. • Familiarity with quality control. Skills • Ability to stand for long hours. • Interpersonal Skills- ability to communicate with various departments. • Attentive to detail and organizational skills. • Adaptability – the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
